Great place for breakfast or brunch (they don't serve dinner). I'm vegetarian, but my husband and son are not. Here we can all be happy. Long lines on weekends, so get here before 9am.

Walk there, catch a movie at the Archlight and get a quick bite here. Then catch a cab home so you don't have to walk up hill on a full stomach. Cheesecakes galore! Pretty darn good.

If you like Chinese, this is a good option. It's a Chain, but its good. Great cocktails too. I recommend the lettuce wraps. Again, easy walk down, but returning home is uphill--plan accordingly.

Best French restaurant in LA. Pricey, but worth it. Requires reservations for dinner. Chef Ludo lives in Sherman Oaks and can often be seen working in the kitchen and greeting customers. On Mother’s Day, he brought my brunch out personally, and took a photo with our son. Check out his portrait at the entrance by the bar—classic and whimsical, with intelligent creativity—which sums up his delicious food.

Have lunch. You get a local flavor of what Californians like & taste a variety of salads in the deli case. Send meat eaters, next door to Island burgers, sit outside and you can chat across walk way.

Best Happy Hour in town. Don't spend xtra on top shelf, house margaritas are fantastic. Happy hour they're $7 and 16 oz! The foods okay--huge servings. I try to split dinners, Salad's a meal alone.

Wonderful collections, but the most incredible view of LA you can find off the 405! Its just 10 minutes away, parking is $15/car, then ride the tram up to the museum. The garden is my favorite walk!

One of the largest museums in Los Angeles. This county museum houses world class collections that change, as well as a wonderful contemporary permanent collection. Outdoor art, like Alexander Calder mobiles and Rodin sculptures, surprise you as you walk to the La Brea tar pits. The Tar Pits show woolly mammoth's as they may have been trapped 10,000 years ago, but there are actual bones being excavated daily, and you can watch archeologists at work digging for more--all at no charge.
