f you’re into wine, a good wine bar is a delight. Lupin restaurant is a place of education and discovery.
Sitting at the juncture where Macquarie Street turns into Cascade Road, Lupin is an open fronted space, with footpath seating and a big, open bifold window. There’s a sneaky view up to the mountain and it’s surrounded by heritage cottages and a pretty canopy of trees. The staff are so welcoming

Open for Lunch and Dinner 7 days - other nightly events such as eastern gypsy music jam every Wednesday evenings ... The iconic Cascade Hotel pub was first licensed in 1846 and was purpose built as an Inn for the local folk of the area. In 1870 the licensee, Mr Henry Newman, grew hops on the rivulet and grazed his cattle. Newman set the scene for many Publican’s to come holding a raft of community events from sports to inquests and election meetings. Under the watchful eye of Kunyanyi ( Mount Wellington) the Cascade Hotel maintains its presence as an important meeting place and community hub

Rivulet Track
Rivulet TrackWalk along the Rivulet into the city
Just a hop, skip and a jump from the Hobart CBD lies the beautiful Strickland Falls. Head towards Mount Wellington up Strickland Avenue and there is a carpark approximately half way between the start of the ascent and Huon Rd. Literally a minute walk from the carpark will have you surrounded by beautiful forest and an impressive stream which is formed below Strickland Falls. While this waterfall is one of the most accessible of all of them on this list, it is still relatively unknown to many locals, but is a great photography spot for those who do know of it’s location.

This track provides a link to the network of tracks and fire trails in Wellington Park but it is also a good option for a walk in the bush close to the city, with or without your dog.
The vegetation along this track is quite diverse from open forest to fern-filled gullies. Keep your eyes open for wildlife, there are numerous wallaby runways that cross the track. A lovely arched stone bridge has been built at the first creek crossing to commemorate Peter Degraves, the founder of Cascade Brewery.
At the end of the track you can retrace your steps or continue up kunanyi / Mount Wellington via the Myrtle Gully Track. Under 2 hours

A relatively easy trail through the suburb of South Hobart in the city of Hobart, Tasmania. Following Hobart Rivulet upstream from the city to the foot of kunanyi / Mount Wellington, this trail has a gentle uphill grade and is well suited to bikes and dogs on lead.
Along the way are glimpses of the city’s history. Until the 1860s Hobart Rivulet was the main source of fresh water for the new settlement and so the colony grew up along its banks. You will pass the World Heritage Listed Female Factory, an institution used to house convict women and their children.
Further upstream is the historic Cascade Brewery. The playground and barbecue facilities in Cascade Gardens make this an ideal spot to take a break before retracing your steps to the city.
