Beaches
These are some great beaches close by.
Praia do Pepino (Pepino beach) is less crowded and touristy than Copacabana and Ipanema. This is also the beach where the hang/paragliders land so it's fun just to watch them come in. There are many kiosks on the boardwalk with great drinks and food, some with live music on the weekends.

Located at the North end of Barra Beach, Pepê is a hotspot for shopping, eating, surfing and beach sports. This is my favorite beach in Rio because it's not touristy like Copacabana, instead it is clean, calm and safer. It is also the kitesurf spot so you can take classes at one of the schools or simply lay back and watch while sipping a caipirinha.

If you like Bloody Marys, then this is your spot because they are simply hard to come by in Rio. I mean the real thing too because you will see Bloody Mary on many menus, but most of the time it is tomato juice and vodka and we all know that is just wrong. There is delicious food to go along with the Bloody too! Win-win.
