The closest beach to our house (just at the bottom of our street). Marine St is recommended for beach walking and quick swims (dunking) and volleyball for adults. This beach has a shore break wave with a strong back-flow, so one needs to get past the break in deeper waters to swim safely. Families with young children should go 200 yards in either direction from the base of Marine St. for safer places to swim. Not recommended for board sports unless you are very experienced.
Note that Marine St. Is the only beach in the area (besides Windansea) that has a lifeguard.
Located 200 yards north of Marine St. is another tiny beach called Horseshoe by the locals. It can be accessed via the beach or by walking to the end of Pearl St. And taking a right onto Coast Blvd. At 200 Coast Blvd you’ll find a walkway providing beach access with stairs. Horseshoe is a better choice for families with young children and for experienced surfers.
