Just across the road from my place and a short walk Eastwards you’ll find the Beach Deck. What’s good about it are the views, you can look out to sea either from their deck or inside. The food’s ok, the service can be hit or miss, but I’d still recommend trying it out.

One of my favourites... Healthy food, and extra friendly service. No meat served here so don't expect bacon, but still loads of tasty meals.
Simply Patisserie in South Street - 112 South St, Eastbourne BN21 4LZ -
Food type: Healthy, non-meat, Mediterranean salads, smoothies, paninis, pies, quiches, salads, vegetarian breakfast, baked potatoes, and cakes. If you want strong coffee make it clear to them. I often go to Simply Patisserie in South Street, not to be confused with Patisserie Valerie in the Town Centre – which is also good. If you’re not in need of meat and are looking for something healthy then this might just be the ticket.

Although the listing above says The Ram Inn, the place I was trying to let you know about is The Beanstalk Tea Garden. This is a tea garden in someone's house and is off the beaten track along a track that low-slung cars should be wary of. Check online if it's likely to be open but on sunny days it's so worth a visit if possible.
