Fabulous, French-inspired, family-owned 24 hour cafe and bakery. This is the original location but the one uptown is quite nice as well. It's on College St.

I love this spot for regular breakfast (Charlotte has some awesome Sunday Brunch scenes) any day but what is more is that is it right up against a lake and other shops. We go all the time to feed the ducks and turtles and walk around.

Apparently on Sundays there are food trucks and such but otherwise, this is a nice quiet place to go see the planes leave and land and our city skyline.

This is a gorgeous drive, especially for the fall with the turning of the leaves. You can catch it in at various points but Asheville seems to be closes to here. Great opportunity to drive, get out and picnic, take pictures and head back...or stop in funky, eclectic Asheville. They have yummy restaurants and some fun activities.

Always a Trader Joe's fan...its about a 6 minute drive from here. If you have never been, its a California grocery story - small, easy to navigate and has fabulous wine selections at great prices.
