The Perfect Family Escape! The Shearers' Cottage at Takou River is a cosy, private & peaceful retreat set in our stunning 5 acre subtropical gardens moments from the Takou River. North facing & sunny, it has its own relaxing outdoor bath; cosy wood fire; 5 acres of sub-tropical gardens; private jetty, kayaks & fishing rods & deserted sandy beaches a short paddle downstream at Takou Bay. The cottage is nestled in 150 acres of organic farmland, native bush & river front, 20 minutes from Kerikeri.

Mangawhai Luxury the ultimate place to stay...

Modern, new, exclusive to welcome our guests. The Guesthouse has a separate spacious bedroom, black luxurious bathroom and a kitchen/lounge area. Dining can be inside however with the most breathtaking views overlooking Mangawhai, you would want to be on the decks. Dishwasher, Air-conditioning and a well stocked kitchen should you wish to stay in. The house is very secluded and private. Mangawhai Luxury is perfect for you to come and relax while taking in all of the sites of magical Mangawhai.

Kick your feet up and enjoy a margarita In this modern and newly renovated home. With a 2-minute walk to the beach and a large entertaining deck, there are plenty of opportunities for summer activities. This home is a perfect spot to unwind with two comfortable queen beds and one double bed, two bathrooms, parking spaces and wifi. This is an excellent option for a group of up to 6. When you’re not relaxing in your home, there is much to explore within the beautiful Matakana and Omaha areas.

Original shearer’s cottage. Outside, views from veranda, overlooking farmland, lake and seawards over the Cavalli Island. Inside, cosy couch, TV, art filled walls, books to devour and suitably comfortable beds, a simple but well equipped kitchen & basic bathroom & wifi. Easy access to Matauri Bay plus many more magical beaches. Enjoy the serenity or venture further afield for amazing beaches, bush, landmarks and local history. Dogs welcome. Your hosts, the artist and the gardener.

Kaipara Harbour Views

This stylish place to stay is perfect for family or group trips. Situated in a gated estate with a deep-water boat ramp, great beach access with picnic areas, a tennis court, bird sanctuary, historical sites, bush and farm walks. Gaze at the stars at night or the brilliant view down the harbour. Bring your boat and experience the Kaipara Harbour. Kaiwaka, the little town of lights has great cafes but is also perfectly situated only 15 minutes from Mangawhai with the surf beaches.

The Boathouse

The Boathouse is in Lake View Estate, a gated community. Accommodation sleeps 2 or 4 using our comfy sofa bed. Estate is a few minutes drive from Mangawhai Village and 15mins from the surf beach. Facilities include walking tracks around the lake. Views of Mangawhai and our awesome sand dune can be seen from the property’s driveway and on Lake View walks. Vistas are of rolling hills and there are still some cows on the property. A lovely restful country escape awaits our guests.

Lotus Cottage, Matakana

Overlooking a stunning tranquil lake filled with lotus lilies, the Lotus Cottage is a beautifully decorated fully self contained cottage which is located within the Lotus Estate Property. White peaking and stunning Cayuga ducks float gloriously by in one of the most serene environments you will ever see. A gorgeous covered outdoor dining area, in a country setting. Your own private outdoor double bath house, fire-pit and Japanese tea house on the lake.

One bedroom with queen bed, and fold out couch in the lounge. Plenty of parking for the boat. Relax at this unique and tranquil getaway. Enjoy the private and spacious lake front garden. Ten minutes to Kerikeri , 5 minutes to Waipapa, 20 minutes to the beautiful beaches, and 10 minutes to the airport. A short drive to Paihia and ferry to Russell for taste of early NZ history. Cruise out in the Bay of Islands or make a visit to several nearby wineries
