Durchschnittliche Bewertung: 4,92 von 5, 342 Bewertungen4,92 (342)Five Acre Joshua Tree Desert Homestead
You don't want to drive forever. Our place is perfectly equidistant between the National Park Entrance and Joshua Tree Village.
You prefer an epic view but also vital modern conveniences like reliable, unlimited, truly high-speed Starlink Wi-Fi, thoroughly purified water, and high-end resort level cleaning practices and staff.
You are traveling with friends or loved ones and want everyone to have space but feel connected.
Welcome to Togetherness House - a 5+ acre, eco-conscious, boulder-filled, vintage, desert experience set on one of the best view properties in Joshua Tree.
Whether you are a family on the hunt for adventure, a couple desiring moments of romance, or an artist seeking quiet focus and inspiration we are confident you might enjoy Togetherness House, because that’s who we are and who uses the home most often!
That is why you’ll find a preserved “analog” feel to the home, true to its homestead roots, combined with very specific modern upgrades, that we personally cannot live without.
High-Speed Wi-Fi - (literally Space X just launched the satellite that beams us the fastest internet in the area – (realistically just about solid LTE speeds), which 95% of the area will not have, true high-speed Wi-Fi or LTE signal. Basically unless you are on the main highway you will not get LTE. Additional to the Wi-Fi connection, we have a line of sight to downtown so all major mobile providers tend to receive calls, texts, and some 3G at our place. (While up here we don’t look at our devices much, but when you need it, nice to have!)
Clean Hot Water – The best plumbers in the high-desert installed a state of the art whole house filtration system as well as a UV light purification and additional reverse-osmosis tap, dubbing it the cleanest water in the desert (to fill those Camelbacks and Nalgenes). And for guests who don’t want to run out of hot water when everyone runs for a shower after a hike, the same plumbers installed the latest tankless on-demand hot-water system that is also super eco-friendly.
Air Conditioning - The latest high-end model of energy efficient and powerful whole-home Split-System AC has been installed in the center of the home - with an additional sleek standalone model in the master bedroom to ensure comfort sleeping through both the cold Winters and very warm Summers.
Bedcovers - We may be strange and others might not do this, but pillows and mattresses have been enclosed in hospital grade liners that eliminate the possibility of bed bugs, etc.
LAYOUT
Our home has a split floor plan layout, with the creative space doubling as a guest room on the opposite end of the house to the master. This is perfect for optimal privacy with two couples. Families of all sizes will be able to find a way to use the layout that suits them best. Or one or two people will thoroughly enjoy all the spaces to read, relax, and enjoy vistas and stars.
BEDROOMS
The first bedroom provides a Saatva Organic Cotton Luxury queen bed, the highest rated bed in the US, a dresser, full closet, mid century modern classic Milo Baughman lounge chair, and yoga area with inspirational view.
The second bedroom provides a full bed, toiletries closet, dresser, and wall map of all the NASA space missions to date!
The third bedroom, lovingly called the Pioneer Bedroom is the original bedroom of the homestead and has the original iron Trundle bed, that the kids love, with two cot-sized mattress, linen closet, and board/ card games like South Park Uno or indie/ intellectuals favorite: Hungry, Hungry Hipsters!
The Creative Space/ Writers' Room is centered by a 1920's art deco tanker desk and 1940's tanker chair taken from a Hollywood Studio. It is surrounded by two high-end designer couches from Design Within Reach that convert into a full bed and two twin beds, both made with high quality cushions that are incredibly comfortable to sit and sleep, then sleep some more.
The opposite side of the creative space has a Gear Prep area for backpacks, climbing gear, photo gear, indoor bike storage, and anything else you brought along to tackle the landscape. The wall-to-wall custom butcher block table helps us go through inventory, check gear, clean lenses, repair tires, repack, etc.
Here you will also find guides to Joshua Tree, maps marked up with favorite areas, books on local plants, animals, climbing basics, outdoor basics, etc – to help elucidate some of what you may see on a hike. Please return them if borrowing, for the next guest, and us, we constantly refer to these books and maps.
LIVING ROOM ~
The Living Room is centered around a custom table made from 75-year old reclaimed lumber up-cycled from a downtown Los Angeles landmark – the design of which is made to be inclusive of guests and stimulate conversation between people, and the stools are just plain adorable.
Surrounding the table is a matching set of original Percival Lafer couch and lounge chairs, which if there are any items that you take care with beyond each other and nature, please, is this seating set - we are finding it is more rare than we imagined and is quite an exquisite example of the Brazilian master's take on mid-century modernism and his incorporation of the international brutalist movement. Some people think we are crazy to leave this set in a rental home, but it is part of the experience that we love, so it stays for you!
An vintage JVC boombox and Pioneer Record player help keep the good vibes coming (with what we would assert is the best collection of classic comedy albums in the desert), but the ceiling fixture does have a Bluetooth speaker connection that allows you to simply flip a switch and choose to connect and stream your playlist from your phone.
Not that it is a focal point for us, there is an old school box TV with VHS Video Cassette player and most of the Disney collection. For fun we hooked up a Roku media player - You can connect to your personal HBO Go, Amazon Prime, Hulu, and Showtime Anytime accounts with this device. Game of Thrones on an old set-top box TV is a trip!
IN THE KITCHEN -
European refrigerator/freezer, oven and cooktop combo range with griddle, microwave, coffee maker, plates, bowls, flatware, cutlery, cooking utensils, pots and pans, glasses, coffee mugs, wine glasses, lots of wine glasses, and much more. We also provide paper towels, salt, pepper, cooking spices, organic coffee, and a variety of teas.
Outdoor Areas
We have 5 of some of the most breathtaking acres with mature Joshua Trees and boulders galore. The property is clearly marked by the roads on all four sides, the front road leads up to a locals hiking point where you might see a handful walking by in the distance during sunsets. The more adventurous are welcome to boulder and scramble on property, but please be careful, and no technical gear placement, drilling, etc., in the boulders, obviously.
Camping outdoors is an option, we have about 5 wind-protected coves with clearances for a tent in each.
Joshua Tree has just been designated as a Dark Sky Park, the rigorous process gives us a special and protected view of the stars, especially those of us that are just far enough from Joshua Tree Village lights. You can bask under the Milky Way with remarkable detail.
While the feeling of staying inside the park is evident in the landscape, please realize that means lots of sightings of everything that lives here – bunnies, foxes, desert tortoises, field mice, chipmunks, quails, roadrunners, and so much more, all love this property, please be respectful of their habitats, do not feed them, but treat them kindly.
Guest access
We will provide you with a personalized keypad access code for easy entry.
We've tried to make the place as wheelchair accessible as possible for friends, but the bedroom doorways are from the 1950's and tight.
We are not “professional” AirBnB’ers, we simply want to share this one family home with other great, hard-working people, but you will find the Togetherness House professionally cleaned with linens, towels, toiletries, dishes, glasses, cookware and utensils provided.
Full kitchen, bath, rooms and 5 acre grounds, which are clearly marked by roads which border the property.
There's also a few coves cleared by brush for camping (No fires please).
Located very conveniently between the Joshua Tree National Park Entrance and Downtown/ Joshua Tree Village, nestled up onto the mountains on an outcropping with 270 degree views, on a quiet street, neighboring some of the most popular BnB’s in the area as well as well-known artists and celebrities (please respect everyone’s privacy as well as the nature around you and typically both will return the favor in kind).
Interaction with guests
We are always available by phone or text for any questions you may have regarding your stay.
We are deeply committed to healthy and eco-conscious living, and every improvement we make to Togetherness House will reflect improved sustainability and harmonious living within nature. Much of the kitchen stock is organic, even the cleaning products we use. You’ll see small ongoing projects around the property maximizing our greywater usage and rainwater collection.
All proceeds from the rental go to local permaculture workers and designers developing these projects and other sustainability projects in Joshua Tree.
While you are here we want it to feel like you are at your family home. Which for us, has been the ideal place to use as base camp for Park Adventures, romantic getaways, or creative inspiration. We hope you find your perfect destination wherever you go.
Our guidebook will fill you in on some of the local organic markets and diverse restaurants we have in town. You’ll really get a sense of the Joshua Tree personality of Cowboy/ Hippy by looking at a local menu typically offering a handful of organic vegetarian options next to a rack of ribs (both cooked to perfection!)
We're deeply looking forward to sharing the life and home that we love.
Located in the heart of the prestigious Joshua Tree "Highlands" neighborhood, overlooking Monument Manor and Joshua Tree Village with stunning views of the National Park, and incredibly convenient to both the park and the village.
Recent rains have damaged many sections of the dirt roads that make up most of Joshua Tree. While you will see locals zipping through in compact cars, we recommend you adhere to the posted 15 MPH in Monument Manor as there are 2-3 very bumpy sections on the 2 minute ride up from the main road to Togetherness House and several of the established/popular BnB's up here.
One of our first guests, a French designer's glowing review, in her design blog!
