My Tasting Experience was created to show you Valparaiso through its local food and wines. We will try products from bakeries, delicatessens, farmers' markets, and pastry shops, and pair them in our kitchen where we conduct cooking classes. We will also discuss a bit about the history, identity, and local traditions that have shaped the way we 'Porteños' live, and how foreign influence has been present at our table since the early 19th century.
The experience consists of snack-size foods, known in Chile as 'picoteo', rather than elaborate dishes, with the intention of offering more variety. We will taste varieties such as Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Chardonnay, Viognier, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Carmenere, Cabernet Sauvignon, Carignan, and Syrah. I typically work with single varietals (not many blends, unless the food could benefit from that touch), and the wines are in the Reserva, Gran Reserva, and Premium ranges.
The wines come from various regions, but they are all Chilean wines.
