Located on Portage Lake in Chassell, MI, near Houghton with quick access to Michigan Tech University, this rustic family cabin is a great place for either an overnight stay or a longer getaway. It provides a great home base for travel in the Keweenaw peninsula! As a 1930s cabin with a sauna on the lake along with a great view, the focus is on the experience! We find guests who truly enjoy our place are flexible with rustic conditions (not looking for Holiday Inn Express) and young at heart!

This tiny house/cabin features two lofts with queen-sized beds, a wood burning fireplace, dock with paddle boat on two acre pond, access to the Pike River and 20 acres of land for hiking and recreation. Cook in the kitchen or over the outdoor fire pit. Enjoy a wood-fired sauna and cool off with a dip in the pond. Bring a fishing rod and catch dinner out of the pond or the river! No running water but indoor composting toilet and a rain barrel/sink.

Within walking distance of bars, restaurants, coffeehouses, bakeries, and local ski and snowmobile trails our guest home is a perfect place to explore all the Keweenaw peninsula has to offer. Guests have 24/7 access to the host, when necessary, as I live in the detached main house.

Nice, clean apartment just 5 minutes from Michigan Tech and a view of Portage Lake (lake access too!). One stall of garage parking available so you can go right from car to apartment without dealing with the snow. The driveway is plowed. Wifi, heat, keurig coffee selection included. Washer and dryer are in the spacious bathroom with a shower. Full kitchen and electric fireplace. Handicap accessible with stairlift from garage. Full sized bed with additional pullout couch.

Cozy & Clean Chassell Roadside Cottage

This is a non-smoking studio type cottage with a queen bed and futon. The kitchen has a full-size refrigerator, sink, double burner hotplate, microwave, coffee maker, and toaster. Kitchen essentials are provided. Bathroom towels and bedding are also provided. Cottage also has a grill, air conditioning, Wi-Fi, and Netflix. (SORRY, NO PETS. NO SMOKING, OR PARTIES ALLOWED. $400 fine) Chassell beach is two blocks away, and hiking trails are 1 block. MTU is a 10 minute drive.

Relax with friends and family at this peaceful cozy cabin. A perfect 4 seasons cabin on a the ravine river. Enjoy steelhead trout fishing, walking in the woods, winter sports ect. Near Lake Superior. Finn’s bar and grill, and huron bay trading post for groceries and gas. Safe Travels

Welcome to a century old mining house! A Very comfortable home with a large double lot. Located in the middle of paradise with Lake Superior not far from us in any direction. Less than a 1/2 mile from the main snowmobile/Atv trail, close to Mont Ripley, Swedetown, Mont Bohemia. We are centrally located between Houghton (20 miles away), Copper Harbor (25 miles away) and Calumet (5 miles). A great value.

Located directly off US-41, it is the perfect location to visit all things Keweenaw. If you are attending an event at one of our many schools in the area, exploring the Copper Country, or need some extra space when visiting relatives, Birds Eye Rental is the perfect place.

Our home is centrally located in the heart of the Keweenaw. It’s an old mining house that we’ve just recently renovated, so we’re still working on getting it to be at its best for our guests. Historical sites and a wide variety of attractions are found near here, such as: hiking and biking trails, ATV and snowmobile trails (one comes out right across the road), museums, restaurants, and more.
